Fear is a spirit

FEAR IS A SPIRIT
24 Jan 2022 | By Pst. Gitahi Daniel

There is a way to overcome fear. That way is by not allowing any room for it. This is because God assures us that He is always with us.

This is according to the following scriptures.

Isaiah 41:10 (a) "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you."

Matt 10:29-31 echoes that we should not be afraid since we are worth more than sparrows. The Word of God further tells us that the very hair of our heads are all numbered.

The one that created us is our refuge and is always present during trouble.

Psalms 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

Psalms 112:6 says that the righteous will never be shaken, that they will remembered forever.

Psalms 112: 7-8 "They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord . Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.'

Prov 3:23 "Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble.  When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet."

Fear comes to restrain us. That should never be the case because the Word of God in Prov 3:23, assures us of our safety.

At night, we should lie down and sleep like little children without overthinking that there could be anything to harm us.

It is because of fear that some people toss and turn in bed till morning. Those that constantly imagine that they are being attacked, are under the yoke of this spirit.

We should never fear sudden disaster or the ruin that overtakes the wicked. This is because, as the righteous, our safety is guaranteed.

The Lord is always at our side. He keeps our feet from being snared (verse 26.)

Heb 13: 5 assures us that the Lord will never leave us nor forsake us.

Verse 6 says "So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

Isaiah 24:17-18 says that terror, pit and snare await people of the earth, that whoever flees at the sound of terror will fall into a pit.

Our assurance, is the fact that we are saved from all that is supposed to befall the earth. We do not belong to this world and hence these scriptures don't apply in our lives as believers as long as we know our rightful positions in Christ Jesus.

It is not for us, children of the living God, to fear. The Spirit we have received does not make us timid or fearful, it gives us power, 2 Tim 1:7.

In Psalms 27:1, the Psalmist says;

"The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?"

John 14:27 'Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.'

As said before, the spirit of fear puts you in a prison sentence where you can never express yourself or move forward. Remember that it is for freedom that Christ has set us free, according to Gal 5:1. "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

You don't have to take the same path others took. Do not fear to try out something just because someone else failed in the same thing.

Do not be afraid of people for anything.

Psalms 118:6 "The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?"

This is what verses 7, 8 and 9 of Psalms 118 say:

"The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in men.

The truth is, there is a lot of unpleasant things we will have to go through in this life. This, should never bother us because God assures us of peace that the world cannot give

Prov 29:25 'Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.'
