Levels in spiritual battles.

Life is a battle. A believer is constantly engaging in spiritual battles and there are four main levels of the same:

This level has to do with personal decisions and choices that we make between good and evil. On a personal level, how is your walk with Christ? Remember that our battles are not physical but spiritual. You cannot be living a sinful life and still expect to have an easy time in the battlefield. Our spiritual fighting strength is determined by what choices we make in life, how we live, the nature of our walk with Christ and our spiritual sincerity. Dont be a spiritual dwarf - by spotting your garment with lies and envy for instance - and still expect to conquer. Phil 2:12 says that we should work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. Inorder to pose a real challenge to forces of darkness in spiritual warfare, make sure your flesh is crucified so that the devil does not get a chance to attack you or even counter attack you, Gal 5:24 "Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires." If we must prevail in peraonal spiritual battles we must: - Crucify the flesh - Kill any selfish desires - Put to death the flesh with its passions and desires. Mark 14:38 "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Be righteous. It is the sure way to have an upper hand in warfare.

It is the outward manifestation of demonic powers or activities and demonic oppressions. Sometimes, believers have to wage war against infirmities like deafness; diseases, family attacks etc. Luke 13: 11-13 talks of how Jesus healed a woman that had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. In Mark 9:17, a man took to Jesus his son who had been possessed by a demon that had robbed him of speech. This young man was in a battle with this spirit. Demons can also attack you in the areas of spirituality such that you are unable to pray, read the Word of God and seek God in general. These kind of battles are fought on a ground level.

This level has to do with battles against magical powers and practices. It is warfare against the organised forces of darkness like witches, sorcerers, cults, occults, divination etc. The devil will use anything and any loophole against believers. There are physical things that we use on a daily basis that actually carry dark powers and influence having been used of witches and sorcerers. This includes jewellery and home accessories. We have to always be spiritually alert and know from which direction the enemy wants to strike. In the world today, we have many people practising occultism including employers that is why it is important to give tithes and offerings; it is a way of cleansing your money other than being a command.

Territorial forces refer to spiritual strongholds that keep a certain area, city, community, nation etc. They have a large influence and dominion. The battles in this level are against principalities and rulers (Eph 6:12) in a certain geographical area. Principality is an area or state that is ruled by a prince. These forces dictate the kind of life people should live in the said geographical area and believers are usually up against the said territorial demons. This battle happens in the air; it is invisible. In Daniel 10:13, the territorial demon, prince of the persian Kingdom, resisted and detained an angel that had been sent to Daniel during his 21 days of prayer and fasting. There are demons assigned to certain geographical areas and that is why you will find a common bad habit in a particular area. Certain territories are known for prostitution, others are known for drunkenness, others for poverty and such things. When you move into a certain locality, it is important to be spiritually alert unto the spiritual dealings of that area and fight in prayer accordingly.
Daniel 10:20 'So he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come.'
